Let's Talk About It

If you are new to the app scene and looking to make your first download, Apple does a wonderful thing for you. They bundle up essential apps into different collections based on relevant content.

One of the latest collections from the Apple App store is Apps for Healthcare Professionals, which can be found within the Medical category. The collection includes 49 apps for iPhone users and 52 for iPad users – both set of apps are very similar.

Apps for Healthcare Professionals is subdivided into seven further categories: Reference Apps, Education Apps, EMR & Patient Monitoring Apps, Nursing Apps, Imaging Apps, Patient Education Apps and Personal Care Apps. Even though the collection is targeted to healthcare professionals, about 12 apps for both the iPhone and iPad were actually developed for consumers.

Some apps in the Apps for Healthcare Professionals include: Medscape, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Pocket Body, Heart Pro III, AirStrip – Patient Monitoring, VitalHub Chart, WebMD, WebMD Baby, MyChart, Nursing Tabs: MedSurg and Centricity Radiology Mobile. The entire iPhone collection can be viewed by clicking here: iTunes iPhone Healthcare Professional apps. The iPad collection can be viewed by clicking here: iTunes iPad Healthcare Professional apps.

This collection is a wonderful starting point. However, it should be noted that some qualified medical apps have been omitted from the collection. The reason for this is unknown. Regardless, this collection will no doubt give you a strong foundation.
